Mr. Cooksey
Services for Ben F. Cooksey Sr., 81, of Elkhart will be today at 4 p.m. in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with Woodrow Cooksey officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories in Elkhart.
Mrs. Cooksey was born on Oct. 26, 1904, in Houston County, the son of Robert Lee and Mary Ivy Womack Cooksey. He died Friday night following a lengthy illness. He was a member of the Elkhart Church of Christ and a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Cisco Johnson Cooksey of Elkhart; four daughters, Opal McManus of Elkhart, Ivy Vernon of Crosby, Mable Chapman of Elkhart and Bessie Anderson of Houston; three sons, Ben F. Cooksey Jr. of Elkhart, John R. Cooksey of Beeville and Charles B. Cooksey of Palestine; two sisters, Annie Mae Cook and Fannie Camp, both of California; four brothers, Charlie Cooksey of Elkhart, Woodrow Cooksey of Chandler, Edward Cooksey of California and Hubert Cooksey of Chandler; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Richard Cooksey, Tommy Chapman, James Chapman, Wayne Cooksey, Carl Anderson and Joe Bennett.
