Dewey Jackson, my great-great-uncle, married his wife, Eva Solomon, on October 15, 1927, in Roane County, Tennessee.

OBITUARY (Knoxville News-Sentinel, Knoxville, Tenn.):

"Rev. Jackson, youth camp builder, dies

"The Rev. Dewey R. Jackson, chaplain for Knoxville police officers for 14 years and builder of a Baptist youth camp in the late 1950s, died Friday at St. Mary's Medical Center.

"Services for Jackson, 86, of North Knoxville will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at North Knoxville Baptist Church, 217 W. Oldham Ave. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Berry Funeral Home.

"Jackson was ordained at age 16, became pastor at his first church two years later, and served nine churches in Knox and surrounding counties over a 45-year career. Jackson constructed the Ba-Yo-Ca youth facilities in Sevier County three decades ago.

"He served three Knox County Baptist churches -- Belmont, Marble City and Elm Street. Jackson retired from Elm Street Baptist Church after 27 years there.

"Jackson is survived by his wife, Eva Solomon Jackson, four daughters and a son."
