HOOPESTON (CNS) --- Mrs. Lota Jane Wagoner Longfellow, 71, of 863 East Young Avenue, Hoopeston, Illinois died at 8:50 p.m. yesterday (Sunday, October 5, 1969) at her home. She had been in failing health for some time.
Born Thursday, August 4, 1898, at Hoopeston, she was the daughter of John and Norah Sager Wagoner. She was married June 16, 1919 at Indianapolis to Earl Arthur Russell Longfellow Sr. who survives.
Mrs. Longfellow was a member of the Cheneyville Church of Christ, Woman's Relief Corp of Hoopeston, Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Ira Owen Kraeger American Legion Post 384 Auxiliary.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Alta (Tilden Coy) Longest and Mrs. Maurine (Willard) Bruens of Hoopeston, Illinois and Mrs. Maxine (Calvin) Hudspeth of West Lafayette, Indiana; and seven sons, Earl "Fat" Longfellow Jr., Arthur "Cotton" Longfellow, Franklin Roscoe "Frank", and Gilbert Dale "Gib" Longfellow of Hoopeston, Illinois, Richard R. "Dick" Longfellow of Wellington, Illinois, Lester "Babe" of Cissna Part, Illinois and Maxwell "Max" Longfellow of Melvin, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Reku of Steger; a brother, Earl Wagoner of Hoopeston, 48 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Services will be at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, October 8, 1969, at the Christian Church in Hoopeston. The Rev. Harry B. Elwood will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery. The body is at Hamilton Funeral Home. Friend will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Tuesday, October 7, 1969.
