Earl John Charles "Fat" Longfellow Jr., 67, of 701, North Market Street, Hoopeston, died at 7:40 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 1988, at his home.
He was, born May 26, 1920, in Hoopeston, the son of Earl and Lota Jane Wagoner Longfellow Sr. He married Nadine Dilley Feb. 18, 1938, in Hoopeston. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Connie) Warner, Mrs. George (Carolyn) Carswell, Mrs. Randy (Linda) Chesnut, Mrs. Danny (Sherry) Coon, and Mrs. Gary (Terri) Bell, all of Hoopeston; Three sons: Earl Longfellow III of Washington, Illinois, Larry and Danny Longfellow of Hoopeston; 20 grandchildren ,and five great-'grandchildren; five brothers, Arthur (Cotton), Frank, Gilbert (Gib) and Max Longfellow, all of Hoopeston; and Lester Longfellow, Cissna Park; three sisters, Alta Longest, Mrs. Willard (Maurine) Bruens, both of Hoopeston; and Mrs. Calvin (Maxine) Hudspeth, West Lafayette Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard.
Mr. Longfellow had been employed by " StokIey's in Hoopeston for 24 years. He retired in'1978. He had farmed prior to his employment at Stokely's.
He was a member of the First Christian" Church of Hoopeston.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 6, at Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wheeler T. Harden officiating. Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
