Earl Longfellow Sr.

HOOPESTON, III. -- Earl Longfellow, 90, of 859 E: Young Ave., died at 7:30 a.m. Friday (August 22, 1986) at the home of his daughter, Maurine Longfellow (Mrs. Willard) Bruens.
He had farmed for 53 years and was a member of Company B of Hoopeston during World War l. He was a member of the Ira Owen Kreager Post 384 American Legion.
Born March 1, 1896 at Hoopeston, he was the son of Isaac and Ellen Gertrude "Ella" Waugh Longfellow. He married Lota Jane Wagoner on June 16, 1919. She preceded him in death on October 5, 1969.
Survivors include six sons, Earl J. Longfellow Jr., Arthur (Cotton) Longfellow, Frank Longfellow, Gilbert Longfellow, Max Longfellow, all of Hoopeston, and Lester Longfellow of Cissna Park, Ill.; three-daughters, Mrs. Alta Longest of Hoopeston, Mrs. Calvin (Maxine), Hudspeth of West Lafayette, Ind., and Mrs. Willard (Maurine) Bruens of Hoopeston; 40 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Wilbur Carl Longfellow Sr. of Hoopeston.
He was preceded in death by parents; a son, Richard R. Longfellow (September 16, 1975); two brothers, Leroy Longfellow (1890) and Robert U. Longfellow (September 3, 1966); three sisters, Mary Almeda Longfellow (Mrs. George) German (10 Jun 1944), Faye Edith Longfellow (Mrs. Earl Edward) Lloyd (October 4, 1964), and Ruth Longfellow (Mrs. David J) Humphrey (November 20, 1980) and four grandchildren.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Hamilton Orr Funeral Home. Officiating: Rev. Wheeler T. Harden. Visitation: 6•9 p.m. Sunday. Burial with military graveside services at Floral Hill Cemetery.
