Mrs. Catherine Creighton, another early resident of this county, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, at her home in this city, after an illness of several weeks at the age of 79 years.

Catherine Shea was born May 9, 1834 and was married to John A. Creighton, June 10, 1854 at Niagra Falls. They moved to Mt. Forest, Canada, where they lived until they came to Kansas in 1870. They took a homestead north of Belleville and made their home there until after Mr. Creighton's death in 1901, when Mrs. Creighton and daughters moved to town. Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Creighton, all of whom survive, with the exception of one, Dr. C. H. Creighton. They are: Thomas F. of Victoria, Tex., M. J. of hill City, Kans., Mrs. C. F. Lewis and J. A. of Ottumwa, Io., Mrs. W. B. Manbeck of Des Moines, Io., Mrs. W. A. Nichols of Lake City, In., P. W. of Yuma, Ariz., Mrs. F. J. Hardenbrook of Chicago, Mrs. B. M. Bailey, John J., Misses Anna and Nora D. Creighton of this city.

The funeral was held at the home this (Wednesday) morning at eleven o'clock in charge of Rev. Avery of the Episcopal church of Concordia. Burial was made in the Belleville cemetery.
