MRS OCTAVIA ADKINS, 80 YEARS OLD, GOES TO REST
Victoria Adkins was born August 7, 1864 and departed this life March 9, 1945 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 2 days. She was the daughter of the late Goldsberry and Mary Susan Adkins. She was married to Floyd Adkins and to this union were born 13 children. Six children have preceded her to the grave. One son, Robert G Akdins, was killed in France in World War I.
She is survived by 3 sons and 4 daughters, Wilbert Adkins of Sias, Albert Adkins, of St Albans, and Everett Adkins of Monclo, Wva., Mrs Martha Russell of St. Albans Wv , Mrs Matilda Stowers of Monclo, Wva, Mrs Lola Whitten of Sias, and Mrs Esta Mullins of Midland, Pa.; 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; two brothers, Ira and Golza Adkins of Sias, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was converted at the age of 15 years and joined the Methodist church, and later joined the Missionary Baptist Church of which she was a member at the time of her death. In her last days she said she was ready to go, and her prayers were that her children would follow her.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev Ebb Cummings, Rev Elijah Adkins and the Rev W. T. Black at the Palermo church Sunday afternoon, and burial was in the Goldsberry cemetery. Granddaughters were flower girls.
