Huey Long Glisson, 79, of Woodstock Georgia- husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and son- died on December 25th, 2011. Huey died peacefully after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers disease.

Huey was born on May 20th, 1932 in Claxton, GA where he grew up and graduated from Claxton High School in 1950. He continued his education later in life through International Correspondence Schools with a Certificate in Surveying and Civil Drafting. After losing beloved nephew John Bell in the Korean War and enduring a serious car accident, head injury, and coma of over 20 days, Huey was called by the Lord in 1958 to preach the gospel and serve the Church through the Progressive Primitive Baptists. He was ordained in 1959 and served the Primitive Baptists by pastoring churches in Buena Vista, Jay Bird Springs, Helena, Thomaston, Milledgeville, Tifton, Wadley, Fitzgerald, Metter, Mitchell, Dublin, Wrightsville, Ider AL, Alamo and Yatesville before being relieved of the call to preach in 2007. Huey also had a distinguished secular career with the Georgia Department of Transportation in Tennille, GA as a civil draftsman and retired in 1980.

Huey was lovingly supported by his wife, Loette Glisson, in ministry as a preacher and Elder for over 50 years. He married Loette in 1955 and they raised 4 sons together in his beloved home of Wrightsville, Georgia. Huey was very proud of the fact that he supported his wife and his four sons through college and post-graduate education. He was known for his humor, his famous J.O.B joke, and his friendliness & love of people. He was past president of the Rotary Club chapter in Wrightsville and truly loved the community and his long-term home of Wrightsville. Huey and Loette enjoyed traveling the United States and the world together in addition to being proud grandparents of five.

Huey was preceded in death by his wife Loette in May 2009 and his son, Wesley Glisson, in November 2011. Huey was also preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora Glisson, his sisters, Anne Glisson, Winnie Glisson Bell, Mondell Glisson Edwards, Geraldine Glisson Bacon, and Doris Glisson Lindbergh, and his brothers J.B.
