ACWORTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Loette Vaughan Glisson, age 72, will be held at 2P.M. Saturday at Oaky Grove Primitive Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Glisson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and daughter, died on May 6, 2009. Loette died peacefully at home after ovarian cancer and was surrounded by family.

Loette was born on October 30, 1936 in Goggins, GA. Loette was preceded in death by her grandmother Annie Lee Jackson, mother Ruth Jackson Carpenter, father Haschal Vaughan, and brother Russell Vaughan. Loette grew up in Barnesville, GA and was raised by her beloved grandmother Annie Lee Jackson. Loette graduated from Gordon Military College High School in 1953 and continued her education later in life and graduated from Georgia College with a Master's in Education in 1981. She had a distinguished and enjoyable career with the Johnson County Board of Education in Wrightsville, Georgia where she worked as a Teacher in Special Education, Social Studies, and Gifted Education for over 20 years. Loette cherished many long lasting friendships throughout her career at Johnson County High School. Loette was a faithful and devoted member of the Progressive Primitive Baptist Church in Barnesville, Macon, Thomasville, Wrightsville, Dublin, Ider Alabama, Alamo, and Atlanta. She lovingly supported her husband in his ministry as a preacher and minister for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association after retirement. Loette also enjoyed spending time with her beloved poodles over the years and traveling the United States and world with her husband yet Loette most enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Loette is survived by her husband of 54 years, Elder Huey Glisson of Acworth, GA. She is the mother of four loving sons along with their spouses, Bruce and Karen Glisson of Kennesaw, Georgia, John and Patti Glisson of Gainesville, Georgia, Wesley and Shirley Rose Glisson of Auburn, Alabama, George and Cory Glisson-Munier of Acworth, Georgia/Seattle, Washington. She is extremely proud of her five grandchildren, Anna Glisson of Statesboro, Georgia, John Glisson of Atlanta, Georgia, David Glisson of Kennesaw, Georgia, Kyle Glisson of Auburn, Alabama, and Lucas Glisson of Auburn, Alabama.
