She was born December 9th, 1909 in Burnetta, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Silas Compton and Rosa (Warner) Compton. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Nancy, Kentucky.
She is survived by one daughter; Lois Ann (And Milburn) Nancy, Kentucky: 3 grandchildren; Karen (and Chuck) Crawford, Lexington, Kentucky, Michael Tarter, Nancy, Kentucky and Tammy (and Kevin) Prewitt, Lexington, Kentucky: 5 great grandchildren: Charlie, Ashley & John Michael Crawford, Tyler and Jessica Prewitt: several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband; Joe Barker, who died on April 10th, 1952: 7 brothers; Ruby, Chester, Brent, Carthel, Minnie, John and Hershel Compton: 3 sisters; Mattie Wilson, Bessie Jasper and Eula Barker.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1st, 2003 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy York and Brother Lester Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Somerset, Kentucky. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 31st, 2003 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home.
