COMPTON
Silas Monroe Compton, about 80, died Thursday morning at his home at Nancy following an illness of several months' duration. A native of this county, he was a progressive and successful farmer and a good citizen and was interested in every movement contributing to the development of the county. He was a loyal member of the New Hope Baptist Church and leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing. Surviving are his widow and 9 children. Minnie Elmo and John Warner Compton, both of Somerset, Herschel and Brent F Compton of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Eula V (Compton) Barker of Humboldt, IA, Mattie Dora Compton (Mrs. Cleo Melby Wilson), Chester and G.M. Compton, all of Nancy, and Helen Gertrude Compton (Mrs. Joe Barker) of Faubush. Funeral services were conducted at the home Friday morning with interment in the Nancy cemetery.
