John Warner Compton, 95, Kimberly Drive, Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 18th 2003, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born April 20, 1907 in Bernetta, Kentucky, a son of the late Silas Monroe Compton and Rosa Frances Warner. He was a SSC United States Navy Veteran, a Hairdresser at Nancy Lee Beauty Shop, Former owner of Goody Shack, Burnside, Kentucky, member of the National Hairdresser Association, the Hiking Club, Sportsman Club, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Somerset, member of Ferguson United Methodist Church, Ferguson, Kentucky and attended the Beacon Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by 1 daughter; Joanna Sewell, Somerset, Kentucky; 1 sister, Helen Barker, Nancy, Kentucky; a special friend, Opal Weaver, Somerset, Kentucky; 1 grandchild, Gary Roger Sewell, Somerset, Kentucky, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Christine Gladys Compton, 5 brothers, Ruby, Chester, Brent, Carthel and Minnie Compton; 1 brother-in-law Joe Barker; 3 sisters: Mattie Wilson, Bessie Jasper and Eula Barker.
Funeral services will be 11:00am, Monday April 21st, 2003 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Reverend John Mark Toby officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Garden, Somerset, Kentucky. Visitation will be after 6:00pm, Sunday April 29th, 2003 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home. Military Honors will be given by the American Legion Post #38.
