Matilda M. "Tillie" Peruba, 100, of Streator died May 19, 2008 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Streator.

She was born March 14, 1908 in Reading, a daughter of John and Anne (Bavolar) Negray. She married John L. Peruba on October 12, 1932 at St. Stephen's Church. He preceded her in death in December of 1968.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Stephen's Church. She attended St. Stephen's school.

She is survived by one daughter: Noreen (Richard) Wheeler of Streator; one son: Dennis (Joan) Peruba of Ottawa; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Leona Thornton of Utah and Emmy Bundy of La Cresenta, California; a daughter-in-law: Nancy Peruba of Yorkville; a sister-in-law: Anna Mae Negray of Streator; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter: Annella Peruba; one son: John "Jack" Peruba; four sisters: Ann Felter, Mary Deminsky, Marcella Bute and Eleanor Spradling; and three brothers: John, Ray and George Negray.

Pallbearers will be: Chad, Cory and Christopher Peruba; Gary Wheeler; Greg Spradling; and John Negray.
