On August 26, 1914 at the age of 38, Harry was to wed Veva (Johnson) Wickman age 25. Veva was the daughter of George and Lydia (Lyons) Johnson. They were married at his sisters, Hazel Creighton’s house “Cherry Acres” in three mile Valley. The Rev Selleck from the Methodist Church used the ring ceremony to unite the couple in front of family. A large wedding dinner was shared after the ceremony. His brother Jay and brother in-law Charles signed as witness.
They made their home on eight mile where step son George Wickman was joined by son Henry Leighton Williams. On the census by now he is calling himself a wheat farmer but we know according to Obituary he also work on the county roads becoming a county road crew boss before he went back to just working on the ranch. After sixteen years of marriage Veva and Harry would split up sometime in 1930 and she would remarry Ben Dahl.
Amanda Williams his mother was sick and in the hospital, they knew she was dying and Harry was rushing in from the eight mile ranch to be by her side. His car skidded over a 30 ft. embankment near the Roadhouse on the east end of The Dalles. The car fell among some rock and Harry was thrown out of the car hitting his head in the rocks killing him instantly. His mother died a short while later not knowing her son Harry had passed away. He died January 4, 1933 at the age of 57.
Surviving him are his son Leighton, five brothers; Richard, Frank, Jay, Lewis and Clyde, and four sisters; Clara, Hazel Creighton, Hester Harris, and Iva Dufur. Son Leighton would marry in 1940 and give him five grandchildren.
