Iva Williams was born the thirteen child of fourteen to William Henry Williams and Amanda (Abbott) Williams on the eight mile ranch in Wasco County between The Dalles and Dufur, Oregon. She was raised there and attended school through the eighth grade as all her sisters did.
She married Andrew Burnham Dufur on July 9th, 1903 at her father in-law, William Henry Harrison Dufur and Mary L Alexander Dufur. The family was one of the founders of the town of Dufur and from who the town was named after. Pastor D.V Poling from the congestion Church married the couple while Andrew’s sister and brother in-law, F and Blanche Batty signed as witnesses.
They set up home in the Ramsey district just outside Dufur, Oregon, in the same area where Andrew grew up. A general farmer, they were most likely growing wheat and raising cows. By now they have added two daughters to the family, Ivy Mildred Dufur and Elizabeth Amanda Dufur. In 1920 they have raised enough cows for a dairy farm. The daughters are now attending school, probably at the Ramsey School House.

Ten years later both daughters are married and Iva and Andrew have up and moved from their home town at Dufur and moved to Portland, Oregon. They are the owners of a freightliner business and have gone in business with their daughter and son in-law Ivy and Elmer Moon. Daughter Ivy is doing the books for the family. After the 1930 Census Andrew and Iva separated. Iva moves to Walla Walla, Washington with her daughter and son in-law, Ivy and Elmer Moon, Andrew returns to his home town of Dufur.
INJURES COST LIFE OF ANDREW B DUFUR – died this morning at a local hospital from injuries sustained a week ago through the bursting of a granary which engulfed him in a flood of heavy sacks of wheat. He died September 3, 1936 at the age of 56 years old.
With her mother and father gone, Iva moved once again with her daughter’s family to San Francisco, California some time right after the death or the children’s father. She is now fifty-four years old and working as a saleslady selling confectionery candy. She is listed as divorced and still living with the Moons. Her daughter Elizabeth has already moved to San Francisco about five years before.
She passed away November 16, 1952 at Sonoma, Washington at the age of 68. She left behind her daughter and son in-law Ivy and Elmer Moon, and daughter and son in-law Elizabeth and Joseph Gritsch and four grandchildren; Judith, Ronald, Gerald, and Joseph Gritsch. Of her thirteen brothers and sisters only five survive; Hester Harris, Lewis Williams, Clyde Williams, Hazel Creighton, and Clara Williams.
