Victor A. Gruling, age 88, of Montello passed away peacefully Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Montello Care Center. Victor was born in Hamburg, WI to Robert C. and Otilie (Zastrow) Gruling. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II under General Eisenhower.
Victor married Eva Delores Imm May 18, 1942. Eva died Oct 23,1957. On August 15, 1959 he married Leola Richmond in Athens, WI.
They settled in the Waukesha area and Victor worked for International Harvester in Waukesha for 23 years. Upon moving to the Montello area in the early 1970's, he continued in that trade; fixing local farmer's large equipment. He enjoyed fixing cars, tractors as well as woodworking and working in his garden.
Victor leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Leola and six children: Bonnie (Joe) Leitinger of Waukesha, Tom (Jan) of Kansasville, Kathy (Randy) Wagner of DeForest, Vicki Gruling of Milwaukee, Mark (Cathy) of Tomah and David (Angie) of Menomonee Falls. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as three siblings: Walter, Betty (Bob) Tierney and Bob (Eppie).
Victor was preceded in death by his parents and two children: Yvonne and Greg.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 453 E. Park St., Montello. Visitation will be held from noon until the hour of service.
