From "The Sterling Courier" --

Raymond Kress, well known Sterling resident, lost his life following an auto accident early Saturday morning June 16, 1979, on a county road northwest of Sterling, not far from his home. His age was 71 years, 10 months and 7 days.
Henry Raymond Kress, son of Fred Kress and Lou (Boone) Kress, was born August 9, 1907 in Manchester, Ohio. When he was about a year old the family moved to Sterling, Nebraska and it was here he spent the remainder of his life. For a number of years he lived on a farm near Sterling, but he was also a man of many mechanical skills and talents. It was seldom he was ever called upon to repair, or learn the reason for a mechanical break-down, that he was unable to take care of the problem. In the years when we were publishing the Courier, and doing many other printing jobs, Raymond often helped in the office, and his willingness and ability was always deeply appreciated here.
He married Loretta Agena and twelve children were born to them. Three of his children preceded him in death: Judy, Linda and Harvey. His parents and one brother also preceded him.
Raymond was a member of the St. John American Lutheran Church.
Services were held Wednesday morning, June 20, in the Zink Mortuary, with the Rev. Don A. Wilken, pastor of St. John American Luthern Church, officiating. Mrs. Harvey Giesmann sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Don Wilken.
Burial was in the Sterling Cemetery.
