Sterling Sun, Sterling, Johnson Co., Nebraska
March 27, 1930
Mr. Frederick Nelson Kress was born at Manchester, Ohio, August 16, 1875, and died at his home near Sterling, March 18, 1930, age 54 years, 7 months and 2 days.
When a very young man he came to Sterling, Nebraska. In 1903 he returned to Ohio and on December 1st, of the same year at West Union was united in marriage to Miss Louie Edna Boone. The young couple continued to reside at Manchester, Ohio, for a few years then moved to Sterling Vicinity, where since they have resided nearly continuously.
To this union two sons and three daughters were born, all of whom survive. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Louie Edna Kress, two sons, Raymond and Nelson at home, three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Burke of Adams, Mrs. Goldie Harms of Sterling and Lena Kress at home. One brother, Harvey of Georgetown, Ohio, and seven sisters, Mrs. Josie Kuntz, Georgetown, Ohio, Mrs. Linnie Pence, Mrs. Lou Reeves, Mrs. Cora Cochran, Miss Lydia Kress all of Manchester, Ohio, Mrs. Belle Dawley of Cherry Fork, Ohio, and Mrs. Julia Francis of Sterling.
Mr. Kress is the second of this large family of children to answer the final summons, Mrs. Catherine Francis of Sterling, a sister, having passed away in April 1904.
Funeral services were conducted from the family home, Saturday afternoon, Rev. W. D. Lenker, pastor of the local Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Burial was in the Sterling Cemetery.
