A daughter of William Markey, Jr. and Hannah Brown Norris, she moved from Ohio to Schuyler Co., Illinois with her father and stepmother in the 1850's where she met Rufus Osmore Kimball and married him on October 1, 1861. (His family had moved to Fulton Co., IL. before 1850.) They lived in Birmingham, Schuyler Co., IL., in 1865 and moved to Missouri in 1866 where Sarah died in 1870. She was the mother of four children - Effie, Emma, Bennie, and Will. Her daughters both returned to Ohio to be near their mother's people, but her sons stayed in Missouri and Iowa their entire lives. Rufus remarried in 1872 and was the father of several more children.
