Esther Mae Ashley, 83, Fort Wayne, died Sunday (9 June 1985) at her home.

Mrs. Ashley was born 5 September 1901, in Huntington County to Henry Beaver and Carrie (Sunderman) Beaver. Her marriage was to Neil Ashley 19 May 1928 in Huntington County, who preceded her in death on 2 June 1929 in Chicago.

She is survived by six sisters, Chrystal Lumm and Wanda Zion, both of Fort Wayne, Lewetta Swaidner, Hilda Bolinger and Eleanor Beaver, all of Huntington, and Betty Tinsman, of Englewood, Colo., and two brothers, Russell Beaver, Albuquerque, N. M., and Bert Beaver, Colorado Springs, Colo.

She had taught at Manchester College for 23 years before retiring and had previously taught elementary school in Hobart. A graduate of Ball State University, she was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and Trinity English Lutheran Church.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Klaehn's Wayne Street Chapel in Fort Wayne. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Trinity English Lutheran Krauss Chapel with the Rev. Kathleen Nelson officiating.

Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Manchester College or the Delta Kappa Gamma Fund.
