GALENA, Ill. -- Joanne E. Foecking, 79, of Galena, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at her home.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Galena. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

Joanne was born on Aug. 21, 1932, in Galena, daughter of William and Wilhelmina (Heller) Beadle. She married David Foecking on Nov. 27, 1954, at St. Michael's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on May 29, 1984.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Galena Elks Lodge, Save Turner Hall, Dubuqueland Bowling Association and St. Michaels Altar and Rosary Society.

Joanne enjoyed playing euchre, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and watching "Jeopardy."

Surviving are her four daughters, Jackie (Tim) Wickler, Julie (Tom) Staver, Janet (Steve) Bakes and Nancy (Doug) VanHeeren; two sons, David (Susan) Foecking and Dan (April) Foecking; a son-in-law, Joseph Drapeau; 12 grandchildren, Joseph (Sherri) Drapeau, Marie Drapeau, Elizabeth (Gabe) Freund, Katie, Michael and Laura Staver, Andy and Matt Bakes, Kaeleigh and David Foecking, Gretchen and Geoffrey VanHeeren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Irene and Joan Beadle; a brother-in-law, Richard (Marie) Foecking; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Diane Drapeau and Margaret in infancy; seven sisters, Frances Murphy, Helen Petitgout, Florence Bautsch, Vera Wienen, Virginia Armstrong, Catherine Seelye and Lucille Rusboldt; three brothers, William "Billy," Donald "Bugs" and Thomas "Pat" Beadle; and two sisters-in-law, Peggy and Billie.
