GALENA, Ill. - Frances T. Murphy, 91, of Galena, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the Galena Stauss Nursing Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Galena, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where there will be a scripture wake service at 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Murphy worked for W.B. Foecking and Sons for a number of years. She then worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services, retiring after 16 years of service. She was born on May 19, 1912, in Rice Township, rural Galena, daughter of William and Whilemenia (Heller) Beadle. She married Boise Murphy on April 30, 1941, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Galena; he preceded her in death on March 1, 1992.
She was a graduate of Galena High School and the Brown Business College in Freeport.
She was a homemaker and spent all of her life in this area. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was an active member in many parish activities.
Surviving are a son, Terrance (Bonnie) Murphy, of Galena; two daughters, Connie (James) Casson, of Prophetstown, and Jean (Robert) Dimke, of Galena; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Frances dearly loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews and held a special place in her heart for them. The grandchildren are Jane (David) Alborn, Cathy (Dennis) Woods and Russ (Lisa) Casson, Shawn and Peter Murphy, Charles, Brian and Rachael Murphy and Jesse and Jaime Dimke. Also surviving are two sisters, Joanne Foecking, of Galena, and Catherine Seelye, of Harvard; and two sisters-in-law, Joann Beadle and Irene Beadle, both of Galena.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Charles, on Dec. 3, 1968, and William, on Jan. 30, 1995; a daughter, Frances C. (Kay) Murphy, on Jan. 23, 2002; three brothers, William, Donald and Thomas (Pat) Beadle; and five sisters, Helen Petitgoue, Florence Bautsch, Vera Wienen, Virginia Armstrong and Lucille Rusboldt.
