V. C. "Vannie Crouse Sr., died at St. Joseph's hospital in Concordia. He was born April 8, 1886, at Tecumseh, Neb., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Crouse. For many years he owned and operated a salvage yard at Clyde. Mr. Crouse was married to Hattie Egbert. She died in October 1953. Before his death, Mr. Crouse had been making his home in Idana. He was a member of the Christian church at Clyde.
Mr. Crouse was survived by one son, V. C. Crouse Jr. of Merritt Island, Fla, a daughter Mrs. Margarett Bottger of Clyde; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Baily of Elk Grove, Calif., and Mrs. Nellie Frazier of Mayetta, Kan.; four brothers, Charlie, Bryan and Leedy Crouse, all of Great Bend, and Roy Crouse of Idana.
