Ida Stoelting was born March 22, 1869 at Franklin, Wis. She wasthe daughter of Frederick and
Sophie Stoeltlng. She was one of 12 children in the family. Her early childhood was spent at Franklin and later she went to Sheboygan where she was employed.
In 1894 she came to Schaller to keep house for her brother, August.
On March 4, 1897, she was married to August Blattgerste at Franklin, Wis. The new home was made on a farm near Schaller. One child, Herman, was born to the family.
In 1903 they bought a farm south of Storm Lake. With the exception of five or six years during which time they returned to Wisconsin, the remainder of their lives were spent in this area. After retiring from the farm she and her husband moved to 821 West Fourth street in Storm Lake where they have resided for the last 28 years.
On March 4, 1947, Mr. and Mrs. Blattgerste celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with open house. The large crowd that came that day paid tribute to a highly esteemed couple.
