Mrs. Sophia Stoelting passed away on July 4th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Johanning in the town of Sheboygan Falls, where she lived for the past two years. A fracture of the hip which the deceased has sustained by a fall some time ago, and old age were the causes of her death.
Sophia Marten was born Nov. 10th 1837, in Langenholtzhausen, Lippe, Germany, and came to America in 1847 with her parents, who settled in Sheboygan County. She was united in marriage in 1858 to Fred Stoelting, the couple making their home on a farm one-half mile north of Franklin, where she lived up to two years ago. Her husband died in 1903.
The union was blessed with eleven children, all of whom are living, namely; Mrs. August Blattgerste, Mrs. Fred. Blattgerste, and Mrs. Henry Stieghorst of Iowa, Mrs. Otto Johanning of Sheboygan Falls, Henry and Herman Stoelting of Franklin, William and August of Iowa, Otto, Gustave and Adolf of Kiel. She also leaves 22 grandchildren.
The funeral which was largely attended, was held Monday afternoon, Rev. Vriesen of the Emmanuels congregation officiating. Interment took place in the church cemetery.
