Fort Bend Herald, April 17, 2002:

Funeral services for Ervin John "Shorty" Oberhoff, 87, of Needville, TX, are set for 2 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 9018 Church Street, Needville, TX 77461, with Rev. Tom Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery, Needville, TX.

Visitation will be 5 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461.

Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Matthew Mendel, Chris Scearce, Mark Weber, Jared Pasteka, Leslie Kueck, Elwood Oberhoff and Ray Allen Oberhoff. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Stern, Teddy Perez, Margaret Sury, and American Legion Post 350.

Ervin John Oberhoff was born September 9, 1924, to Fritz and Selma Oberhoff in Needville, TX. On February 10, 1944, he married Evelyn Priesmeyer by Paster Scholze. He served in the Army from August 1944 to 1946 with the campaign in Japan. Ervin and Evelyn farmed for several years; then he retired from Ft Bend County. He loved fishing, fishing and more fishing, playing cards/dominoes, and dancing. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, the American Legion Post 350, past member of the Needville Fire Dept.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Selma Oberhoff; infant daughter, Carolyn; brothers, Ernst, Edwin, Erich, Albin, Henry Lee, Nelson, and Gilbert; and sisters-in-law, La Verne and Ann Oberhoff.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Priesmeyer Oberhoff; 4 children, Jimmy Oberhoff and wife Fran, Calvin Oberhoff and wife Joyce, Linda Mendel and husband Gary, Wanda Scearce and husband Mike; grandchildren, Andrew Oberhoff, Laura Thompson, Dwayne Oberhoff, Alicia Terich, Mark Weber, Dawn Douglas, Matthew Mendel, and Christopher Scearce; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Eddie Ruth, Esther, Anita, Ruby Lee, Lenora, and Effie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sincere thanks to his many doctors, caregivers, Pastor Schwartz, family and friends for their support and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 9018 Church Street, Needville, TX 77461, or to a charity of choice.
