Lucy Jane Ayers was born on August 30, 1878, in Adair, Kentucky, the only child of Samuel James and Sarah Viana. She married James Alfred Barnett on December 7, 1899, in Taylor, Kentucky. She then had two sons and two daughters with Ed Caffee. She died on May 8, 1945, in Christian, Kentucky, at the age of 66. Funeral services for Mrs.Lucy Caffee,67 years of age, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev.Houk. Burial was in Brookside. Mrs. Caffee died Tuesday night at the State Hospital at Hopkinsville. Mrs. Caffee, daughter of the late Mr.& Mrs. James and Sarah Ayers. Professed faith some twenty years ago. She united in marriage to Mr. James A.Barnett, 46 years ago, who preceded her 33 years ago. To this union four sons and two daughters were born. Surviving are: David Barnett, Louisville Ky, Dan Barnett, U.S Army, Frank Barnett, of Lexington Ky, and Ida Kassell of California. In 1913, she united in marriage to Ed. Caffee and to this union three daughters were born. Surviving are: Annie and Maude Caffee, Campbellsville Ky. Besides her husband and children, she leaves three brothers and two sisters, Sam, Willie and John Ayers, Mrs. Eura Finick, and Mrs. Lizzie Newton. 10 grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
