Mr. Dan Barnett, formerly of Taylor County, and a half-brother of Bill and Doc Barnett and Mrs. Ann Bryant, all of Taylor Co., died in New York of a heart attack, Friday, August 23. Mr. Barnett, the son of Jim and Lucy Barnett, had made his home in Florida for the past several years. He was a veteran of the U.S Army. Before moving to Florida, he had worked at Calumet Farms in Lexington for 40 years and was groom to the Kentucky Derby winner Whirlaway. Besides the above mentioned survivors, he leaves a sister and brother, Mrs. Eda Kassell of California and Frank Barnett of Florida and one other half-sister, Maude Burris of Bellevue, Kentucky. Mr. Barnett's body was taken to California for cremation and returned to his sister, Mrs. Kassell.
