Mrs. Harry Suehl Found Dead In Barn by Brother and 8-year-Old Daughter

Funeral Services Today

People of Winside and surrounding territory were greatly shocked when they received word of the death, Monday morning, June 8th, of Mrs. Harry Suehl, who lived nine miles southeast of Winside. Mrs. Suehl was found hanging in the barn by her brother, Ben, and her eight year old daughter, Pearl, who he gone out to pick strawberries and were passing through the barn. Mrs. Suehl had been morose and despondent since the death of her small daughter, Golda, in January. She had blamed herself over the death of her baby and could not recover from this thought.

Clara Damme was born on a farm four and one-half miles south of Wayne on the 7th November, 1896. She was educated in a rural school. She was married to Mr. Harry Suehl on December 17th, 1919, by Rev. H. A. Tekhaus of Wayne. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Suehl moved to the farm six miles south and three miles east of Winside where they lived until the time of Mrs. Suehl's tragic death.

The deceased is survived by her husband Mr. Harry Suehl; her small eight-year-old daughter, Pearl; five brothers, Fred, Ben, Edward and Carl, all of Wayne county, and John Damme of Gurley, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Shrader of Wayne and Mrs. Hans Henrickson of Vivian, S. D. Mrs. Suehl was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Damme; two brothers, William and Herman; 1 sister,Mary Baker, and her daughter, Golda.

Funeral services are to be held this afternoon at one o'clock from her late home six miles south and three miles east of Winside and interment is to be made in Pleasant View cemetery. Rev. W. F. Most of Wayne will be in charge of the last rites. We are exceedingly sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Suehl. Mrs. Suehl was a woman whose friendship anyone would have enjoyed. She was a very devoted wife and mother and performed all of her home duties with the sort of joy in knowing that she was doing something worth while.
