Mrs. William Damme Dies Near Wayne After a Long Illness, Aged 67 Years.

Funeral Service Is Conducted at Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor.
Mrs. William Damme passed away at her home southeast of Wayne Sunday, June 30, after a long illness, aged 67 years, 9 months, and 10 days. Funeral service was held this Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Evangelical Lutheran church in Wayne with Rev. H. A. Teckhaus in charge. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Damme's maiden name was Miss Albertina Johanna Schutt. She was born September 20, 1861, in Pommern, Germany. She was baptised in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed March 25, 1877. With her parents deceased came to this country in 1864 and located at Big Berger Creek in Franklin county, Mo. There she spent her childhood and received her education.
In 1883 deceased was married to William Damme in Otoe county, Neb., where the family lived until 1887 when they came to Wayne county and located on a farm. A married life of forty-six years was granted to Mr. and Mrs. Damme. Fifteen children were born in the home and six preceded their mother in death.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Damme leaves three daughters and six sons as follows: Mrs. Hans Henricksen of South Dakota, Mrs. Harry Suehl of Winside, Mrs. William Schroeder of
Wayne, Ed Damme of Wayne, John Damme of Cheyenne county, Fred Damme of Winside, Carl Damme of Wayne, and Albert and Ben Damme at home. She also leaves two brothers in Missouri, four daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law, and eighteen grand children.
Mrs. Damme was a member of the Lutheran church here and was a faithful worker in the
congregation until illness prevented. She was cared for by her husband and daughter, Charlotte, also others of her family, during her last illness. Many friends will remember Mrs. Damme with esteem.
