Minnie was born the second of 15 children. She received her education in the Wayne County, Nebraska schools and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

On December 28, 1905 she was married to Hans Henriksen at Wayne, Nebraska. In 1908 they moved to a homestead north of Vivian where they resided until July, 1949 when they retired and moved to Pierre. Six children were born to this union.
