Death of Rev. Abraham Bashline. Rev. Abraham Bashline, of Knox township, Jefferson county, a superannuated preacher of the Erie annual conference of the Methodist Episcopal church, died at his home last Saturday forenoon, February 15, 1908, after a somewhat protracted illness, and was buried in the Brookville cemetery Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held in the Brookville M. E. church conducted by Dr. A. R. Rich, presiding elder of Clarion district, assisted by Dr. J. B. Neff of DuBois, Dr. J. W. Blaisdell of New Bethlehem, Dr. C. W. Miner of Punxsutawney, and Rev. J. A. McCamey, of Brookville. Albert Sydow of Big Run, F. A. Gaupp of Ridgway, O. H. Sibley of Emerickville, J. E. Allgood of Stanton, S. L. Richard B, of Corsica, and Anthony Groves of Valier. Abraham Bashline was born in Clarion county in 1835 or 36, being 72 years of age at his death. In 1867 or 1868 he was married to Miss Amanda Cyphert, who survives him. To them were born two sons, both grown to manhood, and now in business for themselves. In 1863 be entered the itinerancy of the M. E. church in the Erie annual conference. He was ordained a deacon in 1865 by Bishop Baker, and an elder in 1868 by Bishop Kingsley. Following are the charges he served, and the dates: 1863 Washington circuit, 1864 Paradise, 1865-6 Warsaw, 1867-8 Perrysville, 1869 70, Kinzua, 1871-2 Irvington and Deerfield, 1873-4 Greenfield and Mina, 1875-6 McKean, 1877-8 Green, 1879 80 Valusia, 1881-2 Fairview. 1883-5 Dayton, 1886 Fagundos, 1887 8 Pleasantville, 1889-92 Rimersburg, 93-4 Cranberry, 1895-7 Sigel, 1898 to 1901 Brockport. It will thus be seen that the period of his active ministry was thirty-eight years. In 1901, by reason of impaired health, he took a superannuated relation. He purchased a farm in Knox township, settled upon it, and lived there, enjoying the comforts of life, until the time of his decease. He was among the successful preachers of the Erie Conference, being faithful in all respects, and through his labors Bringing many persons into the church.
