VERONA – John D. McGann, age 71, died on Sunday, January 5, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital.

He was born on February 1, 1925 in Ridgeway, Wisconsin, the son of John and Stella McGann. John had been a farmer for a number of years and also worked at Oscar Mayer Company and the Badger Ordinance Plant. Mr. McGann was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Lillian Anderson of Verona; two daughters, Karen (Duane) Ward of Middleton and Kristine (Charles) Huseth of Barneveld; a son, Patrick (Julie) McGann of Verona; five grandchildren, Kim (Jerry) Markart of Lone Rock, Kelly and Derek Ward of Middleton, Lindsay Huseth of Barneveld and Katie McGann of Verona; a great-granddaughter, Megan Markart of Lone Rock; four sisters, Anna Marie Callahan of Madison, Mary Jean (Darrell) Rounds of Madison, Shirley (Dean) Murphy, Ridgeway, and Carolyn (Robert) Cullen of Ridgeway; a brother, William (Betty) McGann of Dodgeville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Connie.

Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Verona, Wisconsin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 1997. The Reverend Delbert Schmelzer will officiate with burial in the Verona Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 1997 at the Joyce Funeral Home, 118 North Franklin Street, where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
