He was a former co-founder/owner(with Charlie Nelson and Daniel Thomas) of RNT Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Georgia. After Thomas decided to sell his portion of the business, Rayfield got his good friend and cousin, Tilmon Wilson to buy into the firm. Rayfield was co- founder/owner of the Richardson Funeral Home in Perry, Georgia. After the end of the partnership in RNT Funeral Home in the mid 1980's, he purchased it and renamed it as the Richardson and Son Funeral Home.
He was a member of the Houston Mt Zion Baptist Church in Bonaire, Georgia where he was Ordained as a Deacon and served as treasurer of the Deacon Board for a period of time. He was a member of the NAACP and the Good Samaritan Lodge #5 and the Union Brothers and Sisters Lodge #1.
He was married to Ruby Lee Bryant Richardson. They had 1 son.
