Born in Anderson County, South Carolina, Elizabeth Griffin Holcome was the daughter of the late Isaac Neil and Margaret Ellison Griffin and wife of Kinchen T. Holcombe; mother of three daughters, Mrs. Nora Streams from Ohio, Mrs. Alma Knight from from Greer and Mrs. Clara Burrell from Batesville; step-mother of two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Lynch from Greenville and Mrs. Tencie Hudson from Simpsonville; mother of four sons, Kinchen T. Holcombe Jr.from Greenville, Walter D. Holcombe from Rodman, Sloan L. Holcombe from California and James C. Holcombe from Greenville; step-mother of two sons, Homer H. Holcombe Marietta and Clinton Griffin from Greenville.
In addition to her husband, children and step-children she was survived by three sisters, Mrs. Leigh Hinton, Mrs. Alma Allison, Mrs. Janie Styles all from Greenville; four brothers, Joe Griffin, George Ceborn Griffin both fro Greenville, Lafayette " Fate" Griffin from Birmingham, Alabama and Ben F. Griffin from Atlanta, Georgia; 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Rocky Creek Baptist Church where she was a member at 2 p.m. with internment in Church Cemetery.
