Hilda was the fifth of nine children born to Valentine & Josephine (Braun) Haehn

On 4 August 1930, Hilda married Ervin Ambrose Eull in Saint Martin, MN; they were both age 25. Born 17 April 1904 in Saint Michael, MN; he was the ninth of ten children born to Nickolas & Stephania (Zachman) Eull.

After elementary school, Hilda went off to Saint Benedict's Academy in Saint Joseph, where she graduated valedictorian three years later (she was given one year credit for her knowledge of German.) She was not only a good student academically, but also participated in a lot of extracurricular activities – playing tennis, pitching on the softball team, acting in plays, reading and writing poetry, among other things.

Upon graduation, she went to Saint Cloud Teachers College for a year or two and earned a certificate to teach elementary school. She obtained a position in Albertville, MN; moving in with her uncle, Martin Haehn and his family. Before long, she met Erwin Eull at a dance in town. After her children were all in school, Hilda went back to work, doing occasional substitute teaching, then working full-time at an ammunition factory in New Brighton, MN during World War II.

After the war, she worked for several years as a clerk in the bakery in Elk River and then as a clerk in Andy's Electric store, where she worked until she retired. Hilda was always an upbeat, optimistic person, who looked for the silver lining when cloudy skies appeared. A faithful Catholic, she was an active member of Saint Andrew's parish, participating in Christian Mother's activities like bake sales, clothing drives and church bazaar dinners. At around age 80, her kidneys started to fail and for the next ten years she had to have dialysis three times a week.

She died on 14 July 1995 in Elk River, MN at age 90; spending the final three years of her life at the Elk River Nursing Home.
