Born 11 November 1868 in Saint Martin, MN, Valentine was the seventh of eighteen children {nine daugters & nine sons} born to (or adopted by) Peter & Anna Mary (Schneider) Haehn.

On 19 November 1895, Valentine married Josephine Braun at Saint Michael Catholic Church in Spring Hill (Township), MN; she was age 19, he was 27.

Born 7 February 1876 in Spring Hill (Township), MN; Josephine was the oldest of eleven children {five daughters & six sons} born to John & Anna Marie (Minnerath) Braun.

A teacher/general store merchant; Valentine was the Vice President of the Saint Martin Bank from 1917 to 1933. Beginning in 1905, Valentine was the president of the Town Council (or mayor as he would later be called) until his death. He was also the director of the Saint Martin Band for about 20 years & played the trumpet in the orchestra.

He died of a stroke on 13 December 1940 in Saint Martin, MN at age 72.
