Asa was the second child of Isaac and Gracie Butler Myers. Born in South Caroline 1800 where in South Carolina we are not sure. He grew up in Lawrence County Mississippi and got married there to Frances Fortenberry (Falkenburg on record) in 1822.
Asa and his family were living in Scott County Mississippi in 1840 along with his brother Carmon. 1850 was still in Scott. Asa's two older sons, Alexander and Perry had moved to Texas and were living in Tyler County Texas in 1850, and in Nacogdoches County Texas in 1860. Asa probably moved to Texas about 1853 as some of his children married in Nacogdoches. Asa died in Nacogdoches County Texas in 1860 with out a will. He was probably buried on the property that he own. Which was about 1500 acres bring part of the Juan Isidro Acosta land grant of December 20, 1825. The 1500 acres bounties were Alazan creek on the north, Moral on the east, west by the Esparza --?-- tracts and south by the boundary of the grant. About 100 acres being between the Alazan and Moral borden on the north by A.A. Co--?--- and south by land sold to L.T. Phillips.
Family tradition says there were 18 children, 9 boys and 9 girls. This is very likely correct, since it would not have been unusual for a couple to have infants that were born and died between census. 1850 census shows 2 boys and 2 girls had born after 1840.

Children: Alexander, Erwin, Nancy, Perry, Albert, Sylvester, Irvin, Carlotta, Minerva,Narcissa'Narcissus', Andrew, Saleta'Calita', Oliver and Thorza Camelia.

Frances Fortenberry Myers when back to Mississippi after Asa's death and died there. She is buried in Eli Myers Cemetery, Simpson County.
