Nothing is known of the early life of Isaac Myers before he left South Carolina with his wife and four young sons and began his long journey to the wild, unsettled region of the Mississippi Territory, landing at Natchez. He signed a "Petition to Congress by Inhabitants of Marion and Lawrence Counties" dated January 19,1815, as Isaac Mires. From: Territorial Papers of the U.S., Vol. VI Mississippi Territory pgs. 494-498 by C.E. Carter.
It is believed that his parents were German, coming to America by way of Switzerland. He was married to Gracie Leah Butler daughter of John and Elizabeth Butler, of Fayette District, Simpson County, North Carolina.
