Came with the family to the west coast from Kansas with his parents in the early 1890's and eventually settled in Sebastopol along with many other relatives.
He was a building contractor. His most familiar building in Sebastopol is the art deco school on Bodega Avenue just before the bend that goes up the hill to Burbank Gardens.
His paternal aunt, Emma Ann (Shatto) Field dedicated her 1949 memoir to her favorite nephew Carl. This delightful memoir chronicles her immediate family moving from Perry County, Pennsylvania to Ohio, Indiana where she was born, Missouri, Kansas where Carl was born, and then her marriage to Zibeon Field and moving to Santa Clara, California.
Many descendents in the Sebastopol area, bay area region as well as dispersed throughout the west.
