She was born March 28, 1910, in Provo, Utah, to Thomas and Sarah Whitehead Kirkwood. She married Elmo Beers, and was later divorced.
Dorothy grew up in Provo and attended school there. After her marriage, she moved to Lindon, where she raised her family. She later moved to Provo, where she has resided for over 40 years.
She is survived by four children: James (Carol) Beers, Sandy, Ut; Thomas Beers, Santa Barbara, Ca; Roy (Jerolyn) Beers, Highland, Ut; Sally (Val) Shields, Boise, Id; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Phyllis Cooper, Provo. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Stephen Beers and Robert Beers.
Burial will be in Provo City Cemetery
