Jesse Appleman, son of George Appleman and Margaret Cox, was born February 8, 1815, in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, and died April 13, 1893, in Vernon County, Wisconsin. Jesse was married four times and had 16 children by his first three wives.

On March 3, 1836, in Morgan County, Ohio, Jesse married Beaulah Pettit, daughter of John Pettit and Sarah Morris. She was born December 20, 1815, in Morgan County, Ohio, died April 15, 1852, and is buried in Zion Cemetery, Portersville, Perry County, Ohio. Their children were:

According to the book, Memories of Vernon County, Volume 2, Sarah Appleman survived her husband and returned to Ohio.
