VERNON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OBITUARY ARTICLE:

George Appleman, son of Jesse and Christena Smith Appleman, was born in the town of Webster, Vernon county, Wisconsin, Nov. 2, 1863, and passed away at his home April 26, 1941, at the age of 77 years, five months and 24 days.
He was united in marriage to Mary Hughes in August, 1885. To this union were born nine children: Mrs. Bertha Wemmer of Hayward, Mrs. Hattie Falk of Marathon, Mrs. Edith Wirts of La Farge, Milford of Fullerton, Cal., Roy, Amel and Charlie at home, Williams and Geneva having preceded him in death.
Mr. Appleman has been ailing for the past two years and bedfast most of the time, but he born his pain and suffering without a murmer. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand, and will be sadly missed in his home and community.
He was from a family of 14 children, one brother and four sisters, three half-brothers and five half-sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing his faithful wife, seven children, 12 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Jane Wallace of Ontario; one half-brother, Phillip Appleman, of Bloomingdale, and many other relatives and a host of friends.
