Olava Tobia Wierson Lee was born on January 17. 1890 at the home of her parents, Severt Olaus Wierson and Tillia Williamson Wierson, four miles southeast of Radcliffe, Iowa. She was baptized into the Christian faith as an infant and confirmed in this faith as a young lady; both her baptism and confirmation were registered at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa

She attended public schools near Radcliffe, Iowa.

On Dec. 25, 1912, Olava was united in Holy Matrimony to Nels O. Lee of Radcliffe. The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents. Pastor Sumstad of the Bergen Congregation officiated. To this union was born one child, Helen Odella.

The couple was engaged in farming for nearly forty years, on a farm six miles south of Radcliffe. During these years, their church home was Zion Lutheran Church, located just a short distance from their farm. These were happy and active years for the Lee family. As plans were being made for retirement, the family circle was broken by Nels's death on February 14, 1952.

Olava moved to Story City, Iowa in November, 1952. She established residence at 838 Elm Avenue and continued to live there until her death on Friday, April 18, 1986 at the age of ninety-six years and three months.

Olava enjoyed her family, her friends and her home. She appreciated the extended visits of her daughter and the frequent conversations with other family members and friends. Her telephone was a big help to her in later years and she listened attentively to the Sunday worship services on cassette tapes provided by her church.

Olava became a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City on December 4, 1955. She remained an interested and involved member of her congregation to the end. She enjoyed reading and she made good use of the devotional materials of her church. Her pastors were her friends and she always encouraged them in their work.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Henry, Eamel, Nels and Silas Wierson, a sister, Walnetta Barka, and by a sister who died in infancy, Ella Gurine Wierson.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Charles Freel of South Pasadena, California, a sister, Alma Ericson of Story City. A sister-in-law., Lulu (Mrs. Silas) Wierson of Roland and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
