Fr. Anthony Dinges, age 90, of Hays, passed away Sunday, August 28th at St. John's of Victoria. He was born April 8, 1921 in Schoenchen, Kansas to Joseph A. and Catherine (Werth) Dinges.
Fr. Dinges served for nearly two decades in the Southside Virginia area including Crewe, Blackstone and Meherrin. He returned to hays to retire with family and friends. While in Hays he held monthly masses at Centennial Towers, Cedar View and Sterling House. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
He is survived by three sisters, Helen "Susie" Ubert of Hays, Paulette Hamel of Virginia and Catherine "Kitty" Beyer of Hays.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fidelis, Frank and Ted and six sisters, Bridget Werth, Agnes Ruder, Martina Ruder, Mary Pfannenstiel, Bert Rayl and Rose Smith. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow services in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 5:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Friday 9:00 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. all at Brock's North Hill Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS. 67601. There will be a rosary service at 6:30 P.M. followed by a parish vigil service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to TMP-Marian High School or Hospice of Hays Medical Center.
