Fidelis J. Dinges, 78, 309 W. 14th, died Sunday, March 11 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born July 6, 1911 in Schoenchen, to Joseph A. and Catherine (Werth) Dinges.

He married Thecla Ruder April 27, 1931. She died Nov. 11, 1981. He then married Mary Schuster July 1, 1983 in Hays.

He was a retired farmer and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Vern, Denver, and Robert, Hutchinson; four daughters, Luella Herrman, Verlee Schmidt, Doris Lang and Judy Wasinger, all of Hays; a stepson, Harry Schuster, North Brook, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Vivian Karlin, Hays; three brothers, Frank and Ted, both of Hays, and Father Anthony, Crewe, Va.; eight sisters, Agnes Ruder, Mary Pfannenstiel, Helen Ubert and Catherine Beyer, all of Hays, Martina Ruder, Plainville, Bert Rayl, Hutchinson, Rose Smith, Lakewood, Colo., and Paulette Hamel, Anadale, Va.; and 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and seven step grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Father Michael Suchnicki officiated; burial was in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to St. John's of Hays.

Casket bearers were Brian Lang, Charlie Dinges, Bob Leikam, Ron Herrman, Norman Ruder and Don Werth.
