Plano, Texas -- Bertha M. Rayl, 83, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at Heritage Manor. She was born Jan. 27, 1920 in Schoenchen to Joseph and Catherine (Werth) Dinges.

She married Charles R. Rayl on Sept. 30, 1946 in Hays. He died May 22, 1998.

She graduated from Schoenchen High Scholl. She had been a Hutchinson resident since 1956, moving to Tulsa, Okla. in 1998, then to Plano in 2002. She was a retired bookkeeper for the accounting department of Dillons Co.

Survivors include three sons, Steven, Canton, Mich., Kent, McKinney, Texas, and Rodney, Hutchinson; a daughter, Cheryl Bixby, Sterling; two brothers, Frank Dinges, Colorado, and Father Tony Dinges, Crew, Va.; six sisters, Martina Ruder, Plainville, Mary Pfannenstiel, Hays, Rose Smith, Lakewood, Colo., Helen Ubert, Hays, Paulette Hamel, Annaldale, Va., and Catherine Beyer, Hays; seven grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson; inurnment at a later date in Sterling. A parish rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the mortuary.
