Ira Delmar Jenkins was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 27th 1905 to Alva Mary Shaw Jenkins and Thomas Franklin Jenkins.

Ira was married to Eloise Jenkins for many years. His siblings were; Herbert Franklin Jenkins, Whitman Jenkins, Grady Jenkins and Jewel Jenkins.

I remember as a young boy, my uncle Ira had a large African grey parrot that was always out of his cage. The parrot would talk with an extensive vocabulary and eat out of my uncles hand. It was a strange sight, especially when we once had a chicken dinner, with the parrot closely watching. As a little boy, I often wondered if the bird was thinking that he was next for dinner. Uncle Ira treated his parrot like it was his child, and it was an awesome sight.

Ira lived in Wyandotte, Michigan for many years but lived the later part of his life near Hollywood, Florida where he ran his own successful foundry.

My Uncle Ira was a decent and hard working man!
