Mary Alva Shaw married Thomas Franklin Jenkins in Hamilton County Tennessee on January 4th, 1902 she was 21 years old. They had eight children together however, only five sons survived to adulthood; Herbert Franklin Jenkins, Ira Delmar Jenkins, Thomas Whitman Jenkins, Grady Jenkins and Jewel Jenkins.
Alvie passed away at home at the age of 63 while residing at 2435 Renshaw Alley Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She is interred next to her father Jim Shaw. Her husband Thomas Jenkins is buried at Snow Hill cemetery in Chattanooga.
I never had the honor of meeting my Grandmother Alvie - she passed away before I was born. However, I know one thing about her - she told her son Herbert (my Dad) about Jesus because he trusted Him as his Lord and Savior all of his life.
