Forest Elsworth Allen, 62, of Box 93 Freeman, died Saturday, September 17, 1977 in a Bluefield hospital following a long illness.
Born January 26, 1915 in Bramwell, he was a son of U.S. Allen and Priscillia Reed Allen.
He had been a resident of Bramwell for his entire life, was a retired coal miner for U.S. Steel Corpl, of Gary in 1970. Allen was a member of the UMWA Local No. 9534, and a member of the Bramwell United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Carl White Allen of Freeman; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Joan) Stotts; one brother, Donald E. Allen of Bramwell; four sisters, Mrs. Lillian Owens of Waynesboro, Va., Mrs. Pearl Goins of Bramwell, Mrs. Ethel Jane Hatter of Duhring and Mrs. Beatrice Dunn of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Vickie and Carla.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. from the Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel in Bluewell with Rev Arden Dean, Rev. Herbert Brown, Rev. Tony Spinella, and Rev. David L. Eagleman.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Mausoleum in Bluewell.
Pallbearers will be Fred Shrader, Don Murphy, Don Anello, Newton Sizemore, Jack Lewis, Melvin Miller, George Butt, and T.M. Patel.
Friends may call at the home in Freeman after 5 p.m. today, and at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Monday from 5-9 p.m.
